The speed of the crescent kick is a crucial component in pencak silat, as it determines the effectiveness of attacks during competition. However, the crescent kick performance of students at PSHT Keluang Branch was not yet optimal, making their attacks easier for opponents to anticipate and counter. This study aimed to examine the effect of resistance band training on improving crescent kick speed. An experimental method with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design was employed. The population consisted of 50 students, while 20 male students were selected as the sample using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a 10-second crescent kick speed test. The training program was conducted over 16 sessions with a frequency of three sessions per week. Data analysis included the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the Paired Sample t-Test using SPSS version 26 at a significance level of 0.05. The normality test indicated that both pretest and posttest data were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.282 and 0.340, respectively. The hypothesis test yielded a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000, which was lower than 0.05, indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest results. The findings demonstrate that resistance band training significantly improves crescent kick speed among PSHT Keluang Branch students. In addition, the training contributes to enhanced strength and movement control. Therefore, resistance band training can be considered an effective training method for improving performance and supporting athlete development in pencak silat.
